This is a really nice piece. I got mine with the lights around the base which worked for a day and went out. That said, the dome is not attached to the base so if you need to turn the light on you need grab the glass dome and turn the switch on under the base. A timer on the lights would work best because you invariably get fingerprints all over the glass dome each time you need to turn it over.
